The following is an overview of the images contained in the press set.

New Spaces for Learning and Living

Originally built in 2017, the school has been significantly expanded. The site now includes two dormitories accommodating 50 girls and 50 boys, six housing units for teachers, and a modern “Future Classroom” that enables digital learning. A solar power system, a water tank, and an irrigation system ensure the sustainable operation of the entire campus.

PERI employees also supported the project with a high level of personal commitment. Through the “Global Run to Syangeni” initiative, PERI symbolically linked the Einstein Marathon with the construction of the school in Kenya: for every kilometer run by employees along the virtual route from Weißenhorn to Kenya, PERI donated one euro.

Building with TwistBlocks Strengthens the Region

The school was constructed using TwistBlock concrete hollow blocks developed by the non-profit organization Start Somewhere gGmbH. The blocks are drystacked without mortar, conserving resources in the process. Each TwistBlock was manufactured by hand using the TwistBlock Moulds formwork system, which PERI developed jointly with Start Somewhere gGmbH. The manual production of the blocks creates jobs and strengthens local value creation. The system is now being used in many additional projects: in Kenya, approximately 500 units of social housing are currently under construction, and through new partnerships the technology is also being applied in other countries, including Uganda.

PERI aims to build one school each year in the Global South while further advancing cost-efficient and safe construction using TwistBlocks. In this way, the company seeks to promote education, sustainable development, and long-term career opportunities for young people.
