The following is an overview of the images contained in the press set.
The Global One Primary School, funded by PERI, opened on the campus in 2024. Today, approximately 385 children from preschool through sixth grade attend the school. Strong demand for additional educational opportunities and the successful collaboration between the project partners led to the decision to build a secondary school.
The new facility will accommodate students in grades 10 through 12. It will replace outdated structures and provide safe, modern learning environments for young people.
The school will be constructed using the TwistBlock system, a building technology co-developed by PERI specifically for use in the Global South. The building components are manufactured directly on site, reducing transportation requirements, creating local jobs, and strengthening the regional economy.
The multi-story building will feature modern classrooms, dedicated science and computer labs, faculty and administrative offices, as well as facilities for social and healthcare services. A walkable rooftop terrace will provide additional space for educational activities and future expansion. Outside school hours, the facility is intended to serve the surrounding community, offering opportunities for adult education and vocational training.
The Global One Foundation is responsible for project planning, operations, and the educational concept. In addition to financial support, PERI contributes its expertise in formwork and construction technology. The project combines innovative building solutions with long-term social impact.
“Education creates opportunities for the future. Together with our partners, we want to establish places of learning that open up lasting prospects for children and young people. Being able to contribute our experience in sustainable construction makes this project particularly meaningful for us,” said Andreas Mayer, Head of Corporate Sustainability at PERI.
The new school is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. Once finished, it will expand the educational offerings on the Global One Campus and provide young people in Kibera with access to safe and modern learning facilities.
