PERI’s Automatic Climbing System allows
construction to proceed without a crane
Specialist concrete frame subcontractors, Byrne Brothers used PERI’s VARIO girder wall formwork system to create the highquality, architectural finish required for the first two storeys of the building’s ‘C’-shaped central core. Then, PERI’s Automatic Climbing System (ACS) was used to construct the remaining sixteen floors of the core. At just 4 metres by 6 metres, and although relatively small, this core involved a great deal of temporary works.
Using standard ACS R brackets, the PERI solution reduced overall manpower and eliminated the need for craned assistance to lift the formwork.
A placing boom was also incorporated from the centre core on the ACS system, again removing the need for craned assistance. The design of this system allowed concrete subcontractors, Byrne Brothers to form, strip and climb without the use of the crane in a three day cycle achieving two pours per week with a pour height of between 4m and 5m.

Project Manager
“The ease of use, speed and flexibility of the PERI systems meant that we could reduce crane-time whilst maintaining the high levels of productivity demanded by the project. This, coupled with the excellent track record that PERI were able to demonstrate made them the automatic choice on this prestigious project.”
