Efficent forming, reinforcing and concreting of large wall heights
The 62 m long and 27 m wide discharge facility ensures a regular and even flow of water resulting in optimal utilization of the available retention area. For this, two parallel side walls which rise in the direction of the centre were constructed with heights of between 3.30 m and 13.50 m as well as 14.70 m high return walls positioned at right-angles to the side walls. Due to the external wall inclination of around three degrees (20:1), the cross-section tapers upwards starting with 150 cm at the wall base to 80 cm at the top. The walls were concreted in twelve casting sections with the entire height done in one pour.
In spite of the large heights, the TRIO 270 panel formwork could be quickly extended using few connection parts − the BFD alignment coupler and TAR compensation walers − thus saving a lot of time. Concreting heights of 14.70 m for construction of the return walls were achieved through the addition of 120 elements. For anchoring the walls with trapezoidal cross-sections, the possibility of being able to install ties on all sides of the TRIO formwork at an angle of up to three degrees, proved to be a particular advantage.
For concreting and reinforcement work as well as formworking, up to 13 m high PERI UP Rosett bracing scaffold was at the disposal of the contractors. Site personnel were therefore able to work on all the tie points along with mounting the push-pull props from comfortable and very secure positions. Use of the TRIO wall formwork and PERI UP scaffold was optimally co-ordinated by PERI engineers. Universal walers on the TRIO elements provided safe and, above all, variable positioning of the RS 1400 push-pull props. This meant that the scaffolding units could be freely positioned between the props at any time.

“I´ve been working with PERI TRIO for 20 years. It´s a well-engineered wall formwork system with only very few individual components. The large element can be used horizontally or vertically and height extensions are easy to do. Even with large heights as with this project there are no deformations and offsets; and there aren´t any problems with alignment using the RS 1400 push-pull props.”
