Safe and secure:
RCS P Rail Climbing protection panel
PERI’s new RCS P (Rail Climbing System - Protection) has been a success on the 18 storey Falcon Wharf Project on the River Thames at Wandsworth.
PERI’s new Rail Climbing System (RCS) has been designed to provide safe and secure edge protection on high-rise buildings and additionally affords adequate space for erection of slab and column formwork with ample walking access as well as creating a safe working environment.
An inspector from the Health & Safety Executive commented that the new system provides collective protection measures which, when installed and used correctly, comply with the requirements of schedule 1 of the Work at Height regulations.
Specialist Frame contractor Getjar Ltd were responsible for the construction of columns, walls and slabs, without using external façade scaffolding, on a building reaching 55m and with a complex perimeter geometry. PERI VARIO wall formwork panels were used to construct the walls. Maxiply was used as the formlining and this easily achieved the 24 re-uses required. A total of 11,000m³ of C 40 concrete was poured during the construction process.
“It’s the best system I’ve seen on the market in 25 years. The men feel safe and there’s no danger of tools or debris falling off. The guys adapted to it very quickly. I’d use it again tomorrow on any high rise project.”
