LGS Roof with 13.50 m span provides weather protection at pre-cast concrete plant
The Armtec group is supplying the seg- mental pre-cast concrete components for construction of the elevated guide way of the Calgary LRT line. Manufac- turing of the segments takes place at Armtec Prairie Region’s Engineering Plant in Calgary.
In order to protect the work crew and the pre-cast segments against direct sunlight and precipitations, PERI, designed a practical and cost-effective solution. A total of two PERI UP Lattice Girder System (LGS) weather protection roofs are used to cover two individual work stations at the Armtec plant.
Each roof has an unsupported span of 13.50 m and is 10.00 m long.
The weather protection roofs are designed to be movable so that when the completed pre-cast concrete segments are moved out, the new reinforcement cage can be craned in the work station. The weather protection roof sits on special PERI wheels on an aluminum track which allows the complete roof to be moved manually by only two workers
to the next work sequence.
