£ 75 million mixed use development constructed with PERI
The Justice Mill Lane Project is a £ 75 million mixed use development split between a commercial office development and a 180+ bedroom Park Inn Hotel, for the Rezidor hotel group. The hotel will rise to seven storeys, with all the associated modern services provision, a three-storey basement car park, and a total floor area of 13,000 m2. It will include a restaurant with seating for over a hundred guests, as well as a bar, fitness suite and five flexible meeting rooms spread over 320 m2. The offices will consist of high quality open plan office space over six levels. A ground floor entrance will open into a full height atrium space with a number of upper floors opening onto external balconies.
This development in Aberdeen is being undertaken by principle contractor Miller Construction, who has chosen P J Carey Ltd to construct the reinforced concrete framed structure. To undertake this work P J Carey has come to PERI, who have supplied them with a range of formwork and falsework systems in order to construct this development.
To start with TRIO wall formwork was used for the retaining walls once the initial ground works and excavation had been completed. SKYDECK, the lightweight aluminium slab formwork was used throughout the whole of the basement car park and hotel soffits, whilst MUTLIPROPs and table modules formed the slabs for the offices.
In forming the supports for these soffits VARIO and SRS circular columns were used throughout the development. For the seven cores which were to be constructed on the project five were aided with the use of CB 240 climbing formwork which allows safe and easy access to both sides of the formwork once retracted. For the two remaining cores PERI’s new RCS Lite Rail Climbing System was used, a first in Scotland for the system. Coupled with the use of the hydraulic system this meant that once the system had been installed, it became a crane independent system.
