Central Bank of Kuwait Headquarters, Kuwait

A customized climbing solution for a specially shaped building with two inclined cores

The new Central Bank of Kuwait headquarters broke ground in 2005 in the Sharq area of Kuwait City. The 240 m-tall triangular-shaped tower with 40 stories will be topped with a glass pyramid. The building consists of an office tower with a total area of around 75,000 m² and a multi-storey car park building with a total area of around 65,000 m². For the construction of the tower, PERI supplied an individually designed formwork solution. The biggest challenge was the inclination of the two staircores towards the main core. For the construction of the cores, a combination of ACS R (Regular) and ACS P (Platform) with VARIO GT 24 girder wall formwork has been used.

For the spandrel beams connecting the two staircases with the main core, CB climbing platforms have been combined with VARIO wall formwork. The complexity in the project is the result of the continuous changes in the length of the spandrel beams after each concrete pouring and therefore the continuous changes in the construction joint with the main core.

PERI also delivered different solutions for the access of the working platforms, for example a stair tower based on the PERI UP scaffold. This modular system has been used also for six units of reinforcement scaffolds, which have been moved by crane from core to core as and when required.
