Perfect Slab Solution for Great Heights VT Table Modules on MULTIPROP Shoring
Situated in the Second District of Vienna, two 160 m long exhibition halls were constructed as part of the Messe Wien Neu project. Approximately 1,400 tonnes of steel and 18,500 cubic metres of concrete were required. PERI formwork easily fulfilled the most important criteria.
The 10.50 m high walls were formed each time with one pour using extended TRIO elements. This allowed the contractors to achieve a high level of concrete surface quality. This reduced the number of concreting cycles thus saving on the use of climbing scaffold.
For the 8.85 m high slabs on the energy management and services storey as well as for the high line loads (owing to 3.60 m high shear walls with 40 x 130 cm upstand beams on the slab edges), PERI designed an extremely cost-effective shoring solution which consisted entirely of rentable standard components:
Pre-assembled VT table modules on MULTIPROP towers provided an excellent slab soffit surface and safely transferred the high loads. Tilting forkheads from the MULTIPROP programme guaranteed the high degree of accuracy required for construction of the 7 cm camber. Tables with MULTIPROP supports were moved from cycle to cycle as units using the time-saving PERI C-hook equipment.
Josef Wiedemann Site Foreman “Due to the adaptable PERI project preparation, we could also carry out the architect’s demanding requirements regarding the concrete surfaces. Construction progress throughout and the PERI field service was ideal.”
