Efficient Systems Get Customer Ahead of Schedule
The Ninth and Jefferson buil-ding is a $88 million addition to the Harborview Medical Facility. It is comprised of a 5 story 13,300 ft² (1,235 m²) per level cast-in-place concrete parking garage situated beneath the 14 story steel framed structure.
Formwork for the two concrete cores which run the full height of the building were climbed using PERI’s ACS (Automatic Climbing System). Through the use of a 100 kN (22.5 kip) hydraulic climbing mechanism, the 33 ft x 30 ft (10.10 m x 9.10 m) inside platforms self-climb the 12‘-8“ (3.90 m) distance between floor heights. This frees up the crane to erect the structural steel trailing the advancing cores. The project began in December 2006 with all concrete work completed in December 2007.
